As of writing this review I’ve been working with Topp Construction for just over 6 months now, planning, prepping, and building a detached garage with an apartment above it. Having renovated 3 houses and worked with many contractors I’d grown to be pretty distrustful of the whole building industry in general. Topp Construction has restored my trust in building contractors again with how well they handled the project I contracted them to complete. They’ve been a pleasure to work with, their workmanship is excellent, and I’ve never presented them a problem they haven’t immediately corrected without pushing back. I highly recommend Topp Construction, and I’ve sent their contact information to as many friends and colleagues as I could. My project has turned out better than I expected, and I’m more than happy I took this project on with Branden (CEO), John (VP), and the rest of the Topp crew. If you need a quality builder to help you remodel or build in the Salt Lake valley Topp is a great choice. Topp gets high marks on 5 key considerations that I’m going to break out in more detail below: Quality, Reliability, Communication, Flexibility, and Value. Every person I’ve had in the garage and the apt has been impressed with the quality and workmanship on display, and I’ve heard, more than a couple times, “whatever you’re paying these guys, it’s worth it.” I’ve also been pleasantly surprised by how little effort has been needed on my end to ensure commitments were kept. If Topp agreed to something it got done and didn’t really require any prodding on my end to ensure it happened. They said they’d do it and then they went and did it. For anyone with a normal adult life of work and family obligations that reliability and dependability is huge. Communication has been generally very good with Topp. I’ve never gone more than a couple days without hearing back from Topp when I have reached out to them about something or other, and their responses have been clear and provided timelines along with good expectation setting. I modeled my entire project out in CAD, rendered everything so I could see it ahead of time, and had a detailed financial plan covering how I wanted to proceed, and I still found things that I wanted changed and added during the project. Just the nature of large projects, and I put a lot of value on having a flexible partner who can help accomplish those changes. I did pay what I consider a lot of money for a total of about 1,300 sq. ft. half of which is finished garage space. However, I think that is more a function of the demand for builders in Utah than anything else, and given the smoothness of the project, and Topp’s ability to meet my change requests the money has been well spent and my vision has been realized. That’s worth a lot when you’re talking about your home and where you hope to spend the next several decades.

In December of 2020 Branden of Topp remodeling & construction rebuilt a deck for me. The job entailed replacing rotted out joist and all other parts of the deck. Since part of the job entail removal of a sliding glass door to get to the joist, it seemed like a good time to replace the door at this time due to a seal failure. Which meant a change order and more cost then originally planed. Branden explained all options concerning materials to use, cost and timeline for the job to be completed. Branden and Topp remodeling & construction did me a good job at a fair price. I would highly recommend them to any one that is in need of a contractor.

Wow, Our Kitchen and Home remodel is amazing. Working with Topp Construction team was easy and we made it through the whole process without any issues. Brandon & John worked with us on the upfront planning and costs. Once we agreed on the plans, John led us through the construction process step by step. My wife was his main point of contact, he worked well with her. John even met her at several stores helping nail down decisions. All of Topp’s crews were friendly, conscientious and cleaned up after themselves. They gave us good advice on the work they came in to do. We are stroked on how well our remodel made our home new again. Walkers

If you’re looking for contractors who are skilled, reliable, and honest in how they do business, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Topp. Building a custom home can be stressful, but their transparency, attention to detail, and steady communication made the entire process feel much more manageable. They have excellent contractors who pay close attention to detail and make sure the job is done right, with high quality and the work will hold up over time. I’ve since brought them back for smaller repairs on other homes and they've have been quick to respond and done high quality work.

Topp Construction has done two projects for us, the first involved the conversion of an odd shaped room in our 1890 Victorian into a beautiful master bathroom and a large walk-in closet while the second was the restoration of our front porch. At some point, the original wood porch had been replaced with concrete and steel and Topp restored it to the original configuration. Branden, John, and Sergio were all knowledgeable, flexible, and great to work with, offering tips and advice on the projects. Our main contact, Sergio, was very responsive. Being in the Avenues Historic District, the porch rebuild was subject to historic guidelines. We’ve gotten lots of questions and comments on the porch from passersby! We highly recommend them!
